Partnership Agreements Between MSMEs and Large Enterprises During the Red and White Cabinet Era Reach IDR 3.9 Trillion

Jakarta, December 12, 2024 – The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded a total agreement value of IDR 3.9 trillion from 579 partnerships between Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and large enterprises during the Red and White Cabinet period. These agreements involved 158 large enterprises and 389 MSMEs across Indonesia. The forum also awarded 10 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)/Domestic Investment (DI) companies and MSMEs for their successful implementation of investment-related partnerships.

“We see that investments entering the country under our coordination must also contribute to the development of MSMEs throughout Indonesia. We always prioritize and strive to enhance the role of MSMEs so they can grow, operate efficiently, and, most importantly, improve the productivity of their human resources,” said Minister Rosan in his opening speech at the Investment Partnership Forum (FKI) in Jakarta (12/12).

FKI is an annual event organized to appreciate large enterprises and MSMEs that have supported the partnership programs facilitated by the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM. The forum was attended by 100 MSME entrepreneurs with disabilities, demonstrating the government’s commitment to equitable business opportunities.

“We will prioritize MSMEs run by people with disabilities. I have already instructed our Ministry's staff to prioritize them,” Minister Rosan stated.

The former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States also emphasized that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy, contributing approximately 60.51% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Additionally, MSMEs account for 97% of the total workforce in Indonesia.

“However, MSMEs’ contribution to exports remains relatively low at 16%. We will continue to encourage this growth so that the role of MSMEs can increase further,” Minister Rosan explained.

Since the issuance of Minister of Investment Regulation No. 1 of 2022 on the Implementation of Partnerships in Investment Between Large Enterprises and MSMEs at the Regional Level, the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM has facilitated 2,546 agreements between large enterprises and MSMEs, amounting to a total of IDR 15.9 trillion. These agreements involved 725 large enterprises and 1,505 MSMEs.

“I extend my gratitude to the Ministry of Investment. From the Ministry of MSMEs’ perspective, two significant aspects have greatly benefited us. First is the issue of legality, particularly through the Business Identification Number (NIB). Second is the issue of partnerships, as partnerships are crucial for elevating and advancing MSMEs. Such collaboration with large enterprises is essential,” stated Helvi Yuni Moraza, Deputy Minister of MSMEs, who also attended the event.

The Investment Partnership Program reflects the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM’s commitment to realizing Asta Cita and sustainable development goals through equitable and inclusive growth. Partnerships between large enterprises and MSMEs are built on principles of mutual need, trust, strengthening, and benefit. This initiative is continuously promoted by the Ministry by synchronizing industrial downstreaming policies with MSME empowerment, ensuring that MSMEs can integrate into industrial supply chains and contribute to strategic investment downstreaming efforts.
