On BKPM's 50th Anniversary, Minister of Investment Pays Respect to the Late Head of BKPM at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery

Jakarta, May 26th, 2023 - The Minister of Investment/Chairman of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia led the officials of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM to visit the graves of the late three previous Chairmen of BKPM at the Main Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMP), South Jakarta this morning (26/5). This activity, which is included in the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, was carried out to commemorate and honor the services of the previous Chairmen of BKPM who had passed away.

The series of honors begins at the tomb of Barli Halim as Chairman of BKPM for the period 1973-1978, continues to the grave of Suhartoyo, Chairman of BKPM for the period 1982-1985, and ends at the grave of Sanyoto Sastrowardoyo, Chairman of BKPM in 1988-1998. The Minister of Investment explained that the activity was carried out as a form of respect for the previous Chairmen of BKPM who had contributed to advancing investment in Indonesia.


“BKPM would never be as it is today without the intervention of the previous leaders. They have provided great contributions to the process of growing investment in this country, until investment has become one of the backbone for the country's development. The entire management and employees of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM and I, express the highest respect to the previous BKPM leaders," said Bahlil.


It starts with prayers and flower dusting on the tombs of the three BKPM leaders, this grave pilgrimage was conducted solemnly. It is the first time the Ministry of Investment/BKPM has held this kind activity. Bahlil wishes this activity can be maintained and preserved in the future to honor the ancestors of the leaders at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM.


"Through this pilgrimage activity, I invite all my colleagues to pray for the leaders who have passed away earlier, hopefully Allah SWT will place them all in heaven. This is a new history for all of us, to become the basis for our younger generations in the future. So that whoever our leaders or seniors who have passed away, it is obligatory for us to come to visit their grave and pay our respects," Bahlil explained.


Apart from being attended by the officials of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, the pilgrimage was also attended by the families of the late Suhartoyo and Sanyoto Sastrowardoyo. The series of activities for celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM will be continued with a Remembrance Night which will be held tonight at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM office, then will be concluded with Fun Run & Fun Walk on Sunday, May 28th.(*)
