Indonesia Participates in World Economic Forum Davos 2026, Showcasing its Global Competitiveness

Jakarta, January 9 2026 – The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening global investment promotion through its participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. In collaboration with Danantara Indonesia and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), the Ministry will host the Indonesia Pavilion and Indonesia Night from 19–23 January 2026 as part of the official WEF program.

World Economic Forum 2026 will carry the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue”. The theme reflects the growing challenges of geopolitical fragmentation and global economic uncertainty, while underscoring the importance of open dialogue and cross-sector collaboration in fostering stable, inclusive, and sustainable global economic growth.

“Indonesia’s participation in WEF Davos 2026 is part of our investment promotion strategy aimed at strengthening the country’s global image. Through the delivery of the President’s vision, alongside the participation of government officials and business leaders, Indonesia seeks to demonstrate that it is a stable, competitive, and trusted partner, ready to play an active role in the global economy,” said Nurul Ichwan, Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM, during a Coffee Morning Session with the Media at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta (9/1).

Nurul further emphasized that Indonesia views WEF Davos as a strategic platform to reaffirm its position as a credible and competitive partner for global dialogue and investment. The joint participation of the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM, Danantara Indonesia, and KADIN Indonesia reflects the Indonesia Incorporated approach, bringing together the government, the state-owned investment management institution, and the private sector under a unified strategy to promote investment and strengthen Indonesia’s global economic engagement.

This session also featured the Managing Director of Global Relations & Governance of Danantara Indonesia, Mohamad Al-Arief, and Deputy Chairman for Foreign Relations of KADIN, Bernardino M. Vega. The speakers highlighted the importance of Indonesia’s integrated presence at WEF Davos 2026 as the representation of national synergy in encouraging quality and sustainable investment.

Furthermore, Indonesia will highlight its strategic transformation in state asset management through the role of Danantara Indonesia as the country’s sovereign investment holding company. Danantara’s participation at WEF Davos 2026 marks an important milestone in Indonesia’s efforts to consolidate the strength of its state-owned assets while showcasing a professional, transparent, and internationally aligned approach to investment management.

From the business world, the involvement of KADIN strengthens the message that the national private sector is ready to become a strategic partner for global investors, especially in the development of downstream projects and green industries. This collaboration also emphasizes Indonesia's readiness to strengthen its position in the global supply chain through the development of a high-value-added industrial ecosystem.

From an investment perspective, Indonesia is positioning itself as a global hub for green industries, particularly in the development of electric vehicle ecosystems and other low-carbon industries. Leveraging its abundant natural resources and vast renewable energy potential, the country continues to create attractive investment opportunities while advancing its sustainability agenda. These efforts are supported by ongoing improvements to the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, making business licensing more transparent, efficient, and fully integrated.

Through its active participation in WEF Davos 2026, Indonesia reaffirms its readiness to become a reliable, inclusive, and long-term oriented global partner. The forum provides a strategic platform to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a preferred investment destination while contributing to resilient and sustainable global economic growth.
