AACC Delegation Visits Sanur SEZ to Encourage Investment in Sustainable Health and Tourism Sectors

Denpasar, October 12, 2025 – The Indonesian Investment Promotion Center (IIPC) New York, in collaboration with the Trade Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, D.C., and delegations from the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC), conducted a visit to the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on October 12, 2025. The visit aimed to explore potential cooperation in the tourism, trade, investment, and healthcare sectors—particularly within the Sanur Health & Wellness Special Economic Zone, Indonesia’s first SEZ focused on medical and wellness tourism.

Susy M. Napitupulu, Director of PT Hotel Internasional Sanur Indonesia and representative of the Sanur SEZ Management, welcomed the AACC delegations and presented the SEZ potential as an integrated center for healthcare services, medical training, research, and wellness hospitality.

“The Sanur SEZ is being developed with an eco-integrated approach, combining international hospitals, medical training centers, wellness resort facilities, and creative spaces for supporting industries such as herbal pharmaceuticals and health technology,” she explained.

Through presentations and on-site visits, the AACC delegations gained a comprehensive understanding of investment opportunities in wellness tourism, healthcare infrastructure development, and partnerships in education and workforce training.

According to Tessal Febrian Maharizky, Director of IIPC New York, these investment opportunities align closely with the mission of sustainable investment promotion.

“The Indonesian government envisions the Sanur SEZ as a model for a green economic zone based on healthcare services and sustainable tourism in Southeast Asia,” he stated.

The AACC delegation’s visit to the Sanur SEZ was part of a broader subnational economic diplomacy initiative designed to connect U.S. investors with regional investment opportunities across Indonesia.

“This visit represents a strategic step to promote green investment potential in Bali, particularly within the framework of Indonesia–U.S. economic cooperation focused on sustainability and innovation,” said Ranitya Kusumadewi, Trade Attaché at the Embassy of Indonesia in Washington, D.C.

She further emphasized that the Sanur SEZ could serve as a showcase for synergy between local government, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector in developing an integrated business ecosystem that connects healthcare, tourism, and local culture.
